CIS PROGRAMS

AWS Cloud Computing

Objective

The objective of the Certificate in AWS Cloud Computing is to provide students with basic knowledge and skills in the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale.

AWA Training students will gain an understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Cloud, Networking, and Operating System and how to leverage them to increase business productivity and effectiveness.

CIS 200 Introduction to Cloud Computing

Prerequisites: None

This course is an introduction of cloud computing architecture and security concepts. Students will learn how cloud computing makes running a business easier. It’s cost-effective, scalable, elastic, current, reliable, and secure. This means you’re able to spend more time on what matters and less time managing the underlying details. Students will also gain knowledge of hardware, storage, and virtualization in the cloud and understand the differences of cloud solutions such as IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. Upon successful course completion, students will be able to apply current cloud computing technologies and environments.

CIS 205 Introduction to Cloud Networking

Prerequisites: None

This course covers data communications, network architectures, communication protocols, data link control, medium access control; introduction to local area networks metropolitan area networks and wide area networks; introduction to Internet and TCP/IP.

CIS 210 Cloud Foundation/ Practitioner

Prerequisites: None

AWS  Cloud Foundation/ Practitioner is intended for students who seek an overall understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of specific technical roles. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, pricing, and support.

Web Design I

Objective

The objective of the Certificate in Web Design I is to provide a basic knowledge and skill for students to become professional web designers. The courses in this program will give students hands-on exposure to cutting-edge web design software that will provide them with the wide array of skills needed to create a complete website.

CIS 120 Introduction to Web Design

Prerequisites: None

This Course introduces students to the basic principles of web design through the use of Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud – a graphic designing and editing software. Students get hands-on experience in digital imaging, which is an essential skill for various designing professions including web and graphic design, product design, advertising, marketing, publicity, photography, and arts.

CIS 175 HTML/CSS

Prerequisites: CIS 120

This course aims at introducing students to the basics of Internet programming through scripting languages. Students will learn how to write HTML and CSS codes to create web sites that integrate their newly acquired programming skills.

CIS 180 Introduction to Dreamweaver

Prerequisites: CIS 175

In this course, students further develop their skills in HTML and CSS by using Adobe Dreamweaver Creative Cloud to design and maintain web sites. This is a project-oriented course in which students learn the coding environment used in the software to create websites and applications for various digital devices.

CIS 190 Graphic Design for the Web I

Prerequisites: CIS 175

In this course, students use Adobe XD CC to develop user experience web designs. Students hone their web designing skills by working with graphics and wireframes, and creating simple interactive click-through prototypes.

Web Design II

Objective

The objective of the Certificate in Web Design II is to provide a basic knowledge and skill for students to become professional web designers. The courses in this program will give students hands-on exposure to cutting-edge web design software that will provide them with the wide array of skills needed to create a complete website.

CIS 195 Introduction to Java Script

Prerequisites: CIS 175

This course introduces students to JavaScript programming. Students will learn the basic concepts of JavaScript and will gain hands-on experience in programming with JavaScript for various purposes including web designing.

CIS 200 Introduction to InDesign

Prerequisites: CIS 120

In this course, students learn to use Adobe InDesign to design creative page layouts for print or digital distribution. Students learn to use creative tools that enable them to integrate interactivity as well as audiovisuals for computers and mobile devices.

CIS 205 Advanced Java Script

Prerequisites: CIS 195

This course dives into in-depth front-end web development techniques. Students will learn the basic concepts of JavaScript libraries for building user interfaces.

CIS 290 Graphic Design for the Web II

Prerequisites: CIS 120

In this course, students use Adobe Illustrator to develop high definition graphics that can be printed or used on the web, computers, and mobile devices for marketing, advertising, and various other purposes.

Web Development

Objective

The objective of the Certificate in Web Development is to introduce students to the basic concepts of the server-side web programming languages, and the principles and tools that are used to develop Dynamic Web applications.

CIS 350 Introduction to React JS

Prerequisites: CIS 205

This course provides the knowledge necessary to create interactive UIs using ReactJS. Students will learn how to use React as a base in the development of single-page or mobile applications

CIS 355 Introduction to AngularJS

Prerequisites: CIS  205

This course provides the knowledge necessary to declare dynamic views in web-applications using AngularJS, a JavaScript-based open-source front-end web application framework.

CIS 360 Introduction to PHP

Prerequisites: CIS 205

This course provides the knowledge necessary to design and develop dynamic, database-driven Web pages using PHP, a popular general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited to web development. This course introduces the PHP framework and syntax and covers in depth the most important techniques used to build dynamic Web sites. Students will learn how to connect to any modern database, and perform hands on practice with a MySQL database to create database-driven HTML forms and reports.

Software Applications

Objective

The purpose of this program is to first give students an introduction and a working knowledge of computer basics, and the most commonly used MS Office applications –Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher. The advanced applications class will delve deeply into more advanced MS Office programs – Excel and Access. These courses are offered at our academy of information technology because they are project oriented, with students required to produce projects using the following applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Publisher.

CIS 105 Fundamentals of MS Office

Prerequisites: None

This course will cover applications in Microsoft Office suite. Topics covered will include Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Students develop basic proficiency in using these applications through projects and exercises.

CIS 300 Advanced applications in MS Office

Prerequisites: None

This course will cover applications in Microsoft Office suite. Topics covered will include Excel and Access. Students develop advanced proficiency in using these applications through projects and exercises.

Database Management

Objective

The purpose of the Certificate in Database Management is to provide students at our academy of information technology an opportunity to learn the theoretical and practical foundation concepts of the relational database and SQL. The Oracle relational database security query language SQL Plus, set through the latest version of Oracle will be discussed. This program will then re-enforce basic Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. Students will have opportunities to consolidate concepts, as well as develop complex SQL statements and PL/SQL programs.

CIS 315 Oracle SQL I

Prerequisites: None

This course is an introduction to Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL). Topics covered include conceptual definitions, features, functions and syntax, Student will understand the tool for database development and gain practical experience in using these tools.

CIS 325 Oracle SQL II

Prerequisites: CIS 315

This course is a continuation of Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL). Topics covered include conceptual definitions, features, functions and syntax. Students will understand the tools for database development and gain practical experience in using these tools.

CIS 415 Oracle Pl/SQL I

Prerequisites: CIS 325

This course will enable students to understand and apply complex PL/SQL coding techniques in business information technology environment. Topics covered include Oracle database architecture and the use of Oracle in the client server and Web environments.

CIS CIS 425 Oracle Pl/SQL II

Prerequisites: CIS 415

This course is a continuation of CIS 415. This course will further enable students to understand and apply complex PL/SQL coding techniques in business information technology environment. Topics covered include Oracle database architecture and the use of Oracle in the client server and Web environments.

Executive Management

Objective

The purpose of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to function better as managers through new acquired skills in motivation, delegation, training and developemnt. The program is carefully designed and sequenced to emphasize the application of business concepts to the real world. It provides students with a solid foundation in functional areas of business and equips them with the necessary analytical and managerial skills.

EMC 101 - Management Theory and Application

Prerequisites: None

It is the intention of this course to prepare the managers and future managers with the basic understanding of human behavior and development as needed in an office environment through such topics as giving holding meetings, giving presentations, providing feedback, influencing the subordinates, coping with stress, motivation, and time management.

EMC 102 - Organization Behavior and Development

Prerequisites: None

This course has been designed to address the essential concepts of management. These concepts include but are not limited to the following areas; management styles, principles, practices, business culture, decision thinking and bottom up management.

EMC 103 - Human Resource

Prerequisites: None

This course has been designed to introduce the manager(s) to the basic functions of human resources management; these include the following areas; planning, recruitment, compensation, training and development, labor relations, separation from the company.

EMC 104 - Total Quality Management

Prerequisites: None

This course has been designed to meet the growing needs of managers. It is structured to introduce the relationships the manager has with his/her suppliers, make external and internal customer satisfaction a driving force for a positive change, integrating proven quality techniques into every business process, and communicating long term commitment to the organization.

EMC 105 - Financial Management

Prerequisites: None

This course is designed to teach students about the nature and purposes of financial management in the international context. They will gain skills in international investment and financing techniques and in exchange risk management, including accounting and taxation aspects. They will learn, through hands-on case studies and simulations, how to judge the riskiness of a currency from a firm’s perspective, and how to measure and manage the company’s exposure to exchange rate and international interest rate risks. They will discover how companies use banks, markets such as the Eurobond and currency option markets, and techniques such as currency swaps and hybrid bond structures. In the end, the goal is to apply state-of-the-art techniques to the international firm’s investment, financing and risk management decisions.

EMC 106 - Contract Management

Prerequisites: None

This course is about how that is achieved from the very beginning when a client is able to define his needs, through the selection process of projects, participants and contract types to the implementation of projects and complexities of change within a highly dynamic environment to the final account and reviews. Over the years more and more focus has been placed on Contract Management as risks increase, expectations increase, the opportunity for disputes is increased and successful completion is threatened. Contract Management has become a most important process which can often determine the success of the project as a whole.

ESL

English As a Second Language

Objective

The purpose of this program is to able to enter English speaking schools, in addition to bettering their working environment through written and spoken English. The program is intended to sharpen the student’s skills through teaching, reading, writing and most importantly conversation. The program also focuses on teaching English for everyday situations and purposes related to work, social life, school and leisure. The underlying philosophy of the program is more rewarding, meaningful, and effective when language is used for authentic communication.

ESL 101 - ESL Level 1

Prerequisites: None

Students focus on learning ESL beginner grammar skills as well as vocabulary, listening and reading skills on topics like calendars, family members, U.S. money, grocery items, medicine, health, clothing, appliances, furniture, transportation and occupations.

ESL 102 - ESL Level 2

Prerequisites: ESL 101

Students develop their intermediate listening, reading, and speaking abilities through topics such as asking for neighborhood directions, career goals, job skills, healthy habits, doctors and hospitals, money, banking, emergencies and traffic violations. More advanced grammar structures are represented.

ESL 103 - ESL Level 3

Prerequisites: ESL 102

Students read, listen and communicate in more depth regarding setting goals, pursuing dreams, job interview do’s and don’ts, advancing on job, health issues, citizenship, and technology issues. Not adopted texts represent learning strategies on advanced grammar.

ESL 104 - ESL Level 4

Prerequisites: ESL 103

This course is intended to broaden the students’ ability to converse with others. The students are exposed to reading newspaper articles through use of the Internet. Students are given the topics and are then asked questions based on the articles. This increases the students’ comprehension, vocabulary and conversational topics. The students will also be exposed to more advanced grammar such as; perfect and continuous tenses.

ESL 105 - ESL Level 5

Prerequisites: ESL 104

It is the intention of this course to familiarize the student in language that is associated with meetings. In addition, the course is designed to introduce the student to write short business memos, business letters, and give presentations. The student is exposed to all elements of the English language; reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It is the intention of this course to enhance the student’s overall performance in an office environment.

ESL 106 - ESL Level 6

Prerequisites: ESL 105

This course is designed to introduce the students to a variety of speaking styles. It is also the intention of this course to expose the students to the American culture and have them to compare and contrast those to that of the American to that of their own country.
